Loochoo Identity Conference 2016

Come and join us for the second LooChoo ( Ryukyu) Identity Conference to be held March 18-20 at the Hale Akoakoa on the Windward Community College campus in Kane`ohe. The theme for next year’s conference will be “Fichi Ukiin”, Our Responsibility, Our Kuleana. After a successful conference last year on Maui, we are looking forward to next year’s gathering as we move ahead to look and understand more of what our LooChoo, Okinawa identity is all about. As we move into the future, we need to discuss ways to make our culture sustainable and what we will leave for our children from what has been passed down to us. We will look at how to take our responsibility to understand our culture and identity and appreciate who we are as we strengthen our foundation.

The conference is a fun and interactive way to discuss, learn and most importantly share with others about our common connections. Registration is open to anyone. Pre-registration is $100 for adults, $75 for students. Registration after March 1 will be $150 adult and $100 student. Registration fee includes 2 dinners, 2 lunches, 2 continental breakfasts, and snacks. Contact us at ukwanshinevents@gmail.com for more information or to reserve your space.
